The Mix2Vial

filter transfer set simpli-
fies preparation and, with correct use,
eliminates the risk of needlestick injuries
during reconstitution.

The recommended dose of Berinert
®
is
20 IU/kg body weight, administered by
intravenous injection for the treatment
of acute attacks in patients with HAE.
•
It is recommended that Berinert
®
be ad-
ministered by slow intravenous injection
at a rate of 4 mL/minute.
•
A 70-kg patient would require 1,400 IU
or 28 mL, infused over 7 minutes.
6.1 Dosage Forms and Strengths
Berinert
®
is a lyophilized concentrate (500 IU) in a single-
use vial for reconstitution with 10 mL of sterile water for
injection (solvent).
As shown in Figure 23, Berinert
®
comes with a complete
administration set. All Berinert
®
packaging and compo-
nents are latex-free.
